Disclaimer

The calculators and text on this site give estimates for general information. They are not a professional calculation, an energy audit, an engineering design, a quote or financial, legal or tax advice.

Why results differ from real life

• Real appliances draw different power depending on how they are used, how old they are and their settings.
• Electricity prices differ by utility and can change with the amount you use, the time of day and the season.
• Fixed charges, demand charges, taxes and fees are not included in cost results.
• Figures from public sources can be preliminary and are revised by their publisher.

Before you decide

Check your own utility bill for your rates. For purchases or installations, such as sizing heating or cooling equipment, ask a qualified licensed professional. We do not accept responsibility for decisions made only on the basis of an estimate from this site.

See how we get our figures on the methodology and sources page.
